The Municipality of Athens and the Universities of Thessaloniki and Piraeus, together with EPOMM – the European Platform on Mobility Management, organized on the 1st – 3rd of June in Athens Greece, the 20th European Conference on Mobility Management – ECOMM 2016.
Mobility Management is ranked as one of the main issues in the transport sector, by transport policymakers, public transport bodies and transport providers, supporters of non-motorized transport, designers and developers of high technologies and innovative solutions as well as marketing companies and experts.
The central theme of the conference was “Smart Solutions for people and cities” relating to all the solutions, either traditional or innovative, that make the daily lives of citizens easier and the functionality of cities more efficient. The motto of the conference was “Think green, travel smart» but also “Think smart, move green». The conference gathered more than 400 participants from 20 countries and it was prorogued by Mr Yannis Tsironis – Alternate Minister of Environment & Energy, Mrs Peti Perka – General Secretary for Transport, Mr George Kaminis – Mayor of Athens and Mr Caspar Veldkamp, Dutch Ambassador to Greece.
Throughout the 3-day conference more than 100 speakers and several poster presenters had the opportunity to communicate their solutions in multiple focus & poster sessions, running in 6 different conference venues. The thematic areas of the focus sessions were:
- Policy Transfer in Mobility Management
- Smart Solutions for Cities
- Mobility management under Limited Budgets
- Changing Attitudes and Travel Behavior
- Mobility Management: From Policy to Implementation
OTS participated in the conference presenting its Intelligent controlled on-street parking solution – OpenPark, in the main auditorium hall.
